Home Remedies For Hair Loss (Baldness)

Baldness occurs when hair falls out but new hair does not grow in its place. Partial or complete loss of hair is called alopecia. Hair loss usually develops gradually and may be patchy or diffuse (all over). Roughly 100 hairs are lost from your head every day.

Alopecia, also called hair loss, baldness, and epilation, is a common side effect of chemotherapy and radiation therapy. Most patients undergoing chemotherapy, especially those who are being treated with more than one drug, will suffer from hair loss. Radiation therapy causes hair loss only in the area of skin being treated.

About 25% of men begin to bald by the time they are 30 years old, and about two-thirds are either bald or have a balding pattern by age 60.

Causes for Hair Loss

Baldness is not usually caused by a disease, but is related to aging, heredity, and testosterone.  Some of the Possible Causes of Hair Loss include:

  • Cancer treatments can cause hair loss on the face (including the eyelashes and eyebrows), genitals and underarms.

  • Excessive shampooing and blow-drying

  • Emotional or physical stress

  • Hormonal changes (for example, thyroid disease, childbirth, or use of the birth control pill) are the main causes of loss of hair.

  • Hair loss can occur in women for reasons other than female pattern baldness, including the following: Temporary shedding of hair, medications and certain skin diseases

Broken Hairs: Hair shaft breakage results in thinner hair, and can be caused by excessive styling, chemicals, sun, and chlorine in swimming pools.

Nutritional Deficiencies: Nutritional deficiencies are rarely a cause of hair loss. In rare cases certain nutritional deficiencies can cause weak hair shafts that tend to beak off.

Common Signs and Symptoms of Hair Loss:

  • Most people notice hair loss when looking at themselves in a mirror.

  • You may also find many hairs on your pillow in the morning or in your hairbrush or comb.

  • A woman may notice a decrease in the size of her ponytail.

  • Aside from the thinning hair itself, most people do not have other problems associated with hair loss.

  • Hair loss can occur as thinning, in which you may not notice hair falling out, or as shedding, in which clumps of hair fall out.

Home Remedies for the Treatment Hair Loss:

Tips-1: Take 10-15 leaves of the large Ber fruit. Burn them in mustard oil, make a paste and apply on your hair for 1 hour and then wash it. This remedy surely works and prevents hair loss for almost everyone.

Tips-2: Lightly beat two eggs mixed with some milk and run through your hair. Leave on for five minutes, rinse and you will see loss of dandruff, which avoids the hair loss.

Tips-3: Dissolve two aspirins in your dandruff shampoo and watch how it clears up. Use a good moisturizing conditioner afterward.

Tips-4: Honey applied in a small amount while washing the hair will prevent hair loss and gives you sweet shine.

Tips-5: For dry hair, increase the intake of polyunsaturated oils such as sunflower oil, margarine and eat food rich in Vitamin B like pulses, brown rice, bananas etc.

Herbal Remedies for Hair Loss

Herbal Remedies increase circulation, disinfect the scalp and stimulate hair growth.

Tips-1: Apple Cider Vinegar - Rinse your hair with apple cider vinegar and sage tea. This helps hair grow. Catmint or chamomile infusions used as a final rinse can help with itchiness, a source of hair loss.

Tips-2: Licorice - Licorice extract may help prevent hair loss.

Tips-3: Massage scalp regularly with tinctures of stinging nettle, birch, horsetail and rosemary for hair growth stimulation, to disinfect the scalp and to increase blood circulation.

Tips-4: Amla Oil - Amla oil is a very good remedy for the treatment of hair loss. Boil dry pieces of Amla in coconut oil, and apply it on your hair. It will help in proper hair growth. A mixture of an equal quantity of fresh Amla juice and lime juice, used as a shampoo also stimulates hair growth and prevents hair loss.

Tips-5: Marshmallow and Burdock - A tea of marshmallow and burdock is good for dry hair. To make the tea, add 1 tsp of marshmallow and 1 tsp of burdock to a cup of hot water.
