Home Remedies For High Blood Pressure

High blood pressure (hypertension), often called a silent killer, is the pressure of the blood in the arteries. It is a measurement of the force of the blood pushing against the walls of the arteries. The pressure is noticed by amount of blood pumped by the heart and the force of the blood. If there is artery disorder ( like arteriosclerosis due to hardening of the arteries or deposition of fat in their insides), then arteries are unable to contain the amount of blood that is necessary for a normal functioning of its circulation throughout the veins, result is that the heart starts working extra to maintain the normal amount of blood. In this process, it pumps with greater vigor and leads to high blood pressure. Blood pressure is typically recorded as the systolic pressure (as the heart beats) over the diastolic pressure (time between two beats). A consistent blood pressure reading of 140/90 mm Hg or higher is considered high blood pressure. Untreated, high blood pressure will cause heart attacks, strokes, kidney failure, injury to the brain and eyes.
