Understanding Prenatal Yoga

What is Pregnancy Yoga?

Pregnancy yoga (prenatal yoga) is a gentle form of yoga adapted for expectant mothers. It combines easy postures, deep breathing, relaxation and meditation, and avoids anything that strains the belly or puts you at risk.

Its aim is to help you stay active, ease common discomforts, sleep and rest better, and feel calm and confident as your body prepares for birth and motherhood. It is a supportive practice and works alongside, never instead of, your doctor’s antenatal care.

Pregnancy yoga is helpful for women who

Want to stay gently active
Have back or hip discomfort
Feel tired or breathless
Have trouble sleeping
Feel anxious or stressed
Want to learn birth breathing
Are conceiving after PCOD/PCOS

FAQs

Yoga for Pregnancy – Frequently Asked Questions

Gentle prenatal yoga is considered safe for many healthy pregnancies, but it depends on your health and your doctor’s advice. Please get your doctor’s approval before starting and tell us about your medical history so we can plan a safe practice.

Many women start after the first trimester, and some begin earlier with their doctor’s approval. If you have had complications or miscarriage, please wait for your doctor’s clearance.

Yes. Beginners are welcome. We start with very simple, supported practices and move slowly. Pregnancy is not the time to push, so there is no need for flexibility or experience.

No one can promise the type of delivery. Yoga can help you stay active, build stamina, practise breathing and feel calmer, which many women find helpful for birth, but the method of delivery is decided by your medical situation and your doctor.

We avoid deep twists, pressure on the belly, strong backbends, lying flat on the back for long in later months, overheating, breath-holding and fast breathing practices. We always use props and modifications.

Often yes, with your doctor’s approval. We adapt the practice to your condition. We also offer dedicated Yoga for PCOD, PCOS and Thyroid Imbalance programmes.

We usually suggest 3–5 sessions a week of 30–45 minutes, depending on your trimester, energy and doctor’s advice. We will finalise the routine after your free consultation.

Please ask our team. Postnatal practice should only start after your doctor allows, and we will guide you on suitable gentle options at that stage.
